Tostarz’s Chicken Casserole

Posted by Solitary Dancer on May 9, 2006

Tostarz's Chicken Casserole

8 Chicken pieces (legs, thighs and/or breasts)
1/2 tsp. Ginger, ground
1/2 tsp. Chili powder
3 Tb Butter or lard
1 16 oz. Whole tomatoes (13.7)
1 Large Onion, Chopped (13 gm)
4 Oz Mushrooms, sliced (2.6 gm)
1 Clove Garlic (1 gm)
1 1/2 tsp. Salt
1/2 Cup Heavy Cream (3.3)
2 tsp. Paprika (2)

Rinse the chicken parts and pat dry. Melt the butter or lard in a skillet. Brown the chicken on all sides. Place the chicken in the crockpot. Combine all the other ingredients except the cream together. Mix well. Pour over the chicken. Cook on Low for 8 to 10 hours. Stir in the heavy cream just before serving.

Just a note: I made this with a whole cut up chicken. I forgot the cream and it was really good.

Total Carbs for whole dish is 35 grams
