Bruce’s Bourbon BBQ Sauce

Adam found this recipe and here’s what he has to say:

I’d been looking for a good tomatoey BBQ sauce. This is it. I made it tonight withe Jack Daniels and ate it on chicken. Makes about 2.25 cups. I thought I got the recipe from here (Dr Bernstein’s Forum), but after looking can’t find it. I don’t think I’ll buy any more low carb BBQ sauces. I don’t think I’ll make any other low carb BBQ sauces either. I think I’ll stick with this one.

1.4 CHO per Tablespoon

INGREDIENTS:

32 ounces Contadina tomato sauce
6 packets splenda
4 t vinegar
2 t chili powder
2 t paprika
1 t cayenne pepper
4 t liquid smoke flavoring
3 T sugar free maple syrup
2 T dehydrated onion flakes
1/2 C bourbon or Jack Daniels, optional

DIRECTIONS:

Bring ingredients to a slow simmer in a small sauce pan and reduce by about a third if you want to use it as a brush-on sauce.
